Tubester

Tubester lets you play the Hitster music board game using YouTube instead of a

Spotify subscription. Point it at the QR code on a card and it opens the matching

song in an external player of your choice, such as NewPipe or the YouTube app.

A Hitster QR code contains only the card's identity, not the song. Tubester reads

the language and card number, looks the card up in the community

"songseeker-hitster-playlists" dataset to find the exact track, and hands the

YouTube link to your external player.

To keep the round fair, Tubester shows a "turn the phone upside down" hint and a

short countdown before playback starts, because the external player displays the

video title. The answer (year, title and artist) stays hidden behind a Reveal

button. For a fully spoiler-free experience, set NewPipe to open links in the

background so no title is ever shown.

Features:

* Scans Hitster QR cards with a fast, on-device, fully open-source scanner.

* Plays songs through an external player (NewPipe recommended, or YouTube).

* Spoiler-safe game flow with a flip-the-phone hint and hidden answer.

* Supports many sets and expansions via the community mapping dataset.

* Caches mapping data on device.

Privacy: no accounts, no ads, and no analytics or tracking. Tubester needs only

the Camera permission (to scan) and Internet (to fetch mappings and open links).
